Demonetisation: IT sends notice to Junagadh cobbler for Rs10L deposit
A cobbler in Junagadh, Mansukh Makwana, got the shock of his life when IT delivered a notice to him on the pavement seeking details about a Rs. 10 lakh deposit allegedly made in his account during the demonetization drive. Makwana claimed he had never made such a transaction. Junagadh BJP MLA Mahendra Mashru said the confusion might have been due to a technical issue.

"I saw the notice sent to (Makwana) for his reply on transaction of Rs. 10 lakh. His Jan Dhan bank account has no such transaction," Mashru told PTI. Mashru also offered to accompany him to the IT office. However, Makwana, who has a Jan Dhan account in Bank of Baroda, reportedly said he will go by himself and will ask for help if needed.
Rs. 6000cr tax collected till March 18 on unaccounted money
Sources revealed that the government has collected over Rs. 6000crore on unaccounted money deposits made by people after demonetization. "As many as 1,092 people, who had deposited over Rs. 50 lakh, have not yet responded to notices," said vice-chairman of the SIT on black money, Justice Arijit Pasayat. Analysts expect the total collection to increase significantly once more people respond to the notices.
