Eyewitnesses share details of fatal expressway collision
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the light utility vehicle, who was among those killed, was driving at high speeds and attempting to overtake from the left lane. "The impact of the accident can be gauged from the fact that except for its boot, the entire vehicle was crushed in the collision," an officer said.
Local MLA offers possible explanation for collision
Meanwhile, Nadiad MLA Pankaj Desai said it was conceivable that the truck stopped in the expressway's left lane owing to a technical issue, and the car driver did not have enough time to apply the brakes and collided with it. Two ambulances and an express highway patrol squad were dispatched to the scene following the accident.
