Gurugram OYO manager allegedly rapes unconscious guest in hotel room
The manager of an OYO hotel in Gurugram Sector 45 allegedly raped a 22-year-old guest when her husband wasn't in. The accused, Raghav, has been arrested. Raghav was working as the demand manager at Emaar Residency when the couple was staying there for the past month. OYO said it had suspended the employee in question, but added it didn't own the hotel.
The couple had been staying in the hotel since weeks
The victim and her husband were staying at Emaar since long, rebooking rooms on OYO. On Sunday, they made a fresh booking, after which the husband left for work. At 9pm, Raghav, the OYO demand manager, came to her door and told her they would have to shift rooms. But since she was sick, she said they would do it after her husband returned.
Victim woke up to find washed underwear beside her
Nearly three hours later, Raghav had returned to her room, she said. She opened the door thinking it was her husband, but Raghav barged in instead. "I had fallen down and due to my ailment, lost consciousness," she said. When she finally regained her senses, she realized she had been raped, cops said. Her undergarment was washed and kept beside her.
Raghav confessed when threatened with police action
She called Raghav and confronted him, but he denied the crime. It was only when she threatened him with police action that he confessed. The couple then approached cops. A case of rape was registered, and Raghav arrested from his Ghamroj village home yesterday.
'Stringent zero-tolerance policy regarding disrespectful behavior towards women': OYO
In a statement, OYO said, "We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident at Emaar Residency and will continue to extend our full support to the police authorities, along with the owner of the hotel." "Safety of guests and especially women staying or working with us is of paramount importance." "We will do everything possible to ensure the affected gets justice."
