Surat: Married-man chops girlfriend's body into 11 pieces, nabbed red-handed
Surat Police caught a man red-handed as he was trying to dispose of the chopped body parts of his girlfriend Monday night, whom he had allegedly strangled to death. They later found Zulekha Sheikh's head in Shahnawaz Sheikh's flat. Upon investigation, police found that Shahnawaz's wife used to have frequent fights with Zulekha, who was pressurizing him to end the marriage.
Shahnawaz had met Zulekha two years ago
According to police, Shahnawaz met Zulekha, a native of Maharashtra, two years ago. They suspect she was involved in prostitution then. After they got involved, she shifted into a flat in Udhna area. "Shahnawaz used to live with his wife and two children in Lal Gate area," a police officer said. But she recently started demanding Rs. 20,000 from Shahnawaz, a baker.
He had disposed of some body parts before cops arrived
Sunday night, Shahnawaz called Zulekha to an empty flat in Lal Gate. There, he strangled her and chopped the body into 11 pieces. By the time police reached, he had already disposed of some of her body parts "into the river from the ONGC bridge in Surat." He was throwing a leg and a hand into the Bhate Khadi (gulf) when he was nabbed.
