Haryana Lokayukta seeks probe into Soha Ali Khan's arms-license
The Gurugram police have been directed to initiate a probe into the issuance of an arms license to actor Soha Ali Khan in 1996. The police have been asked to submit a report in this regard. Haryana's Lokayukta alleged that there were procedural lapses in the issuance of the license. The next date for hearing the matter has been set as July 24.
What is the case about?
In March'16, Naresh Kumar Kadian, an animal activist had sought intervention of the lokayukta for action against officials who issued an arms license to Soha Ali Khan in 1996. Kadian maintained that since Khan was a minor at the time, the license was illegal. A weapon registered under her name was found to be used in the infamous black buck killing case.
What is the black buck case?
On 28 September 1998, Salman Khan along with other Bollywood actors like Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam had allegedly hunted a black buck deer in the Manthania village in Rajasthan. The Rajasthani Bishnoi community had filed a police complaint against Salman Khan and other actors on 2 October 1998 for killing the deer in the village premises.
Haryana registrar confirms lapses
After looking into the matter, Harayana's registrar said "It is proved that Soha Ali Khan @Soha Sultan obtained the arms licence by concealing the material fact of her age from the competent authority."
