Two arrested for possessing gold worth Rs. 2cr in Aizawl
Sleuths of Mizoram's Excise and Narcotics department seized huge quantity of gold worth more than Rs. 2 crore in Mizoram's Aizawl and arrested two persons in this connection. The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Excise and Narcotics department seized 49 gold-biscuits weighing 8.147kg yesterday. The arrested persons were handed over to the officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in Aizawl, an official said.
Five were arrested yesterday for possessing 207g of heroin
The Anti-Narcotic Squad also seized 207g of heroin yesterday and arrested five persons in this connection, Department spokesman Peter Zohmingthanga said. He said that the seized contraband was worth around Rs. 8 lakh in the local market and was reportedly smuggled in from Myanmar. The five accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, he added.
