Goa government websites direct users to porn websites. No kidding!
The government is pushing its weight behind Digital India. The idea is to make everything web-dependent, from monetary transactions to filling forms and applying for passports. In this case, one would assume that government websites would be "safe". Sadly, that isn't the case. Take, for example, websites of the Goa government which redirect users to porn sites. We can't be making this up!
Let's tell you how this information was disclosed
This absurd detail emerged after a security expert, who goes by the handle @fs0c131y on Twitter went through a couple of websites for his research work. Thereafter, he learned that a website aadharcarduidai.in, is actually an adult website. Though it has a URL that would tell people that it has something to do with Aadhaar card, the reality was far from it.
Government websites proudly boast adult links
But that's not it. This adult website has been linked to government websites of Goa, namely the Directorate Of Official Language (http://dol.goa.gov.in/) and Directorate of Education (http://education.goa.gov.in/). If you visit these websites, scroll down and click on the Aadhaar logo, you will be redirected to the adult website mentioned above. How did no one in the government bother to check the link?
Websites talk about Goa's qualities, but error was ignored
It's important to note that both these websites sing tunes about how amazing Goa is. The website for education reads, "Goa enjoys a place of pride in the country as one of the most literate states of India." Similarly, the other website says, "Directorate of Official Language is a result of one of the significant efforts initiated by the State Government for development of vernacular languages."
