Senior naval officer booked for 'molesting' maid, 'tearing her clothes'
A 46-year-old senior naval officer posted in Goa has been booked for allegedly molesting his domestic help. The maid filed a complaint of molestation and sexual harassment against Commodore Mankandan Nambiar, posted at the INS Hansa naval base at Dabolim, South Goa, yesterday, Vasco police station inspector Nolasco Raposo said. After the officer was booked, he moved a local court for anticipatory bail.

In the complaint, the woman accused the officer of molesting her at his private residence in Vasco town, located around 40 km from Panjim in South Goa district, Raposo said. "His maid lodged a complaint claiming that the officer attempted to molest her and tore her clothes at his residence. The officer has now filed for anticipatory bail," police officials confirmed.
Case registered under IPC sections 354, 354-A, 354-B
The officer, second in command, has been booked under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with an intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-B (assault or use of criminal force on woman with an intent to disrobe), Raposo said.
Indian Navy doesn't want to comment on the issue: Spokesperson
Police officials said that when Nambiar was being questioned, he fell unconscious and was shifted to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment. He's yet to be arrested, but the case is being investigated. Meanwhile, a naval spokesperson said that the Indian Navy didn't want to comment on the issue. However, a "thorough investigation" will be conducted by the defense arm, said naval sources.
