Goa: Woman, friends arrested for killing husband, chopping up body
On Wednesday, the Goa police arrested four people for allegedly killing a man, cutting his corpse into pieces, and disposing it in a forest area. Among the arrested is the victim's wife. The murder came to light when the wife of one of the accused men informed the police of suspicious behavior. The police questioned the man, and he spilled the beans.
Details of the incident
The 31-year-old woman, identified as Kalpana Bassu killed her 38-year-old husband, Basuraj, over a domestic dispute about a month back. Having strangled Basuraj to death, Kalpana enlisted the help of three of Basuraj's friends - Suresh Kumar, Pankaj Pawar, and Abdul Karim Shaikh - to chop up the body and get rid of it in a forest area near the Goa-Karnataka border.
Police suspect the possibility of involvement of others
Kalpana lived with Basuraj and two minor children in the village of Curchorem in South Goa. Acting on information provided by the accused, a police team went to the area where the body was allegedly disposed and recovered partial remains of the corpse. The same has been sent for forensic investigation. Investigation is also underway to find out if others were involved too.
