The suspect assaulted the girl in the principal's room and warned her to keep quiet, but someone saw it through a window and informed her brother. He then reached the school and thrashed the accused. In retaliation, the accused went to her house with his friends and beat up her brother. The girl then locked herself in a room and set herself on fire.
Tension in Deoria after girl's death, locals demand culprits' arrest
After the incident, residents gathered at the local police station and demanded the culprits be immediately arrested. A case has been registered against six people, including the principal, on the basis of the victim's grandmother's complaint.
