#GhazipurCopKilling: Constable killed in stone-pelting hours after PM Modi's rally
In yet another case of mob violence against cops, a police constable was killed in stone-pelting by protesters today in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur. The incident took place this afternoon, only hours after PM Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Ghazipur. This comes just days after Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was shot dead on 3 December in the Bulandshahr violence over alleged cow slaughter.
Cops intervened in a protest by Nishad community members
The police constable, identified as Suresh Vats, reportedly died after being hit by a stone thrown by a protesting mob. He was among the cops posted at Ghazipur's Nonhara police station who were returning from duty at PM Modi's public rally. These cops were ordered to intervene in a protest organized by Nishad community members, who blocked a highway, demanding reservation.
What exactly happened?
When the cops reached the protest site to intervene and evict the protesting members of the Nishad community, the mob started pelting stones at the police team in which Constable Vats was killed.
