5-year-old raped, murdered; accused cousin brother arrested in Ghaziabad
A man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping and killing his five-year-old cousin sister in Ghaziabad, police said. The minor's body was recovered from a sugarcane field near Sarana village on Monday morning, they said. Mahajan killed the girl as she raised an alarm
After abduction, the girl was raped by her cousin brother Mahajan. However, when she raised an alarm, Mahajan killed her, Superintendent of Police (rural) Neeraj Kumar Jadoun said. At the time of the incident, the victim's parents were away from home, meeting some relatives. When the parents returned home, they asked about the girl to their other two children, he said.
Police arrested Mahajan after examining CCTV footage of surrounding area
Following which, an FIR was lodged by Namskar, the father of the deceased girl. During investigation, police examined CCTV footage of the surrounding area and zeroed in on Mahajan as the main suspect. He was arrested and confessed to the crime, the official said. Mahajan has been booked under 364, 376, 302 of IPC and sections of the POCSO Act, Jadoun said.
