Couple commits suicide after allegedly killing their children in Ghaziabad
In a shocking incident, a couple and a woman jumped from the eighth floor of the Krishna Sapphire apartment complex in Indirapuram's Vaibhav Khand, on Tuesday morning. While the couple died on the spot, the other woman survived the fall but succumbed to injuries, later on. The trio allegedly killed the couple's two children along with a pet rabbit. Here are more details.
Guard heard sound at 5 am; found bodies
A guard at the apartment complex, Ajaz Karim Khan, told ANI that the incident occurred around 5 AM. Khan heard a sound and when he went to check on it, he found three people lying on the ground. The police were alerted. When they opened their flat, they found the two children dead in the bedroom, said Sudhir Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Who are the deceased?
The deceased couple has been identified as Gulshan and Parveen Vasudev and the other adult as Sanjana. Earlier it was reported that Sanjana was Gulshan's second wife. However, Sanjana worked at a jeans factory owned by Gulshan, the latter's brother told Dainik Jagran. The deceased children- Kritika and Hrithik- were reportedly smothered and had their throats slit.
Why did the family take this extreme step?
According to IANS, the family had just moved into the apartment complex and would often have arguments. On Monday night, too, the family was heard arguing. A suicide note was found scribbled along the walls of the children's room, along with Rs. 500 notes and bounced cheques pasted on the wall. The note cited financial distress and blamed one Rakesh Kumar.
Rakesh, Gulshan involved in Rs. 2 cr dispute
According to Jagran, Rakesh is Gulshan's brother-in-law and lives in Sahibabad. The two were involved in a monetary dispute of Rs. 2cr. Gulshan had also filed a case against Rakesh in 2015, Mirror Now reported, adding that Rakesh is absconding. His family has been detained.
Police still investigating case; yet to issue official statement
Kritika's friends told Jagran that the teenager had deactivated her Facebook and Instagram accounts last night. Parveen's phone was also switched off. In the suicide note, the family laid out that their last wish is to be cremated together. The police is currently investigating the case and yet to release an official statement.
