Ghaziabad: GD Goenka student dies after falling in school
A class IV student, Armaan Sehgal from GD Goenka School in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram succumbed to death after falling on the second-floor corridor of the school building on Tuesday morning. School authorities rushed Armaan to Shanti Gopal Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile, the autopsy report reveals head injury as the cause of death.
School authorities hiding the truth, says Armaan's mother
Armaan's mother Swati, alleged that the school authorities were trying to hide the fact that he slipped and fell on the corridor's floor which had water as Armaan's dress was wet. She said they were only informed after Armaan was shifted to the hospital. Swati said that after repeated requests, they were allowed to speak to Armaan's teacher who told a different story.
School authorities deny allegations
GD Goenka's principal Dr. Kavita Sharma said that Armaan was going to another classroom to take a weekly scheduled test when he realized that he had forgotten to bring his pencil box. While returning with the pencil box, Armaan fell on the corridor and collapsed after which he was rushed to the hospital. Sharma also denied allegations of water on the corridor's floor.
FIR registered, Ghaziabad administration, police inspect school
An FIR has been registered at the Indirapuram police station against the school principal and manager on Tuesday evening under sections 304 and 201 of IPC. Ghaziabad's additional DM, Priti Jaiswal also inspected the spot where the incident took place. Meanwhile, Indirapuram SHO Sunil Dubey believed that school authorities were negligent.
Cases of school going kids becoming victims
Incidentally, this isn't the first instance of a kid dying in school under such circumstances. Earlier in April 2017, a Class 8 student in Ghaziabad's Kendriya Vidyalaya, died allegedly after suffering a head injury while playing. Similarly, last year, a Class 1 student from Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj was found dead in a water reservoir of the school under mysterious circumstances.
