Noida: Accused of sexual-harassment, Genpact employee commits suicide
A senior employee of Genpact India took his life at his home in Noida on Tuesday after he was accused of sexual harassment by women at his workplace. The 35-year-old man was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his residence at Paramount Floraville, by his wife at 11:30 PM. He was suspended from the job after allegations were leveled on him.
Man was suspended pending investigation, he denied charges
The man belonged to Gurugram and was living in Noida with his wife. They had been married for two years. Reportedly, two female employees had accused him of sexual misconduct after which the company initiated action. He was prohibited from participating in any official work till investigation into the allegations wasn't complete. Notably, the man had denied the accusations.
In suicide note, the man said his reputation is tarnished
He had joined the company as a process developer in 2007 and worked his way to the senior positions. In the purported suicide note, he said though the investigation is pending the effect is visible. "The man denied all allegations and wrote that even if he is proven innocent, his reputation has been tarnished," said Munish Chauhan, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
Genpact confirms the employee was suspended
Confirming that the executive was suspended, a spokesperson of Genpact said, "It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the news of an employee's untimely death. Our heart goes out to his family at this tragic time." He added the employee was temporarily suspended after allegations were leveled. Notably, the man's family has not filed a complaint with the police.
