Entire world knows Pakistan link to 26/11: Army General Rawat
Army Chief General Bipin Rawat yesterday said the international community knew about the role of Pakistani terrorists in Mumbai terror attack, 26/11 and that India didn't want anyone's acknowledgment about it. Rawat's comments came after the remarks of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan that the 2008 Mumbai attack was an act of terrorism and that resolving the case was in Pakistan's interest.
Did Khan indirectly acknowledge Pakistan's involvement in 29/11 attack?
Khan's comments, during a media interview, were seen as an indirect acknowledgment of the involvement of Pakistani terrorists in the attack. "International community knows who did it...but even without it, we knew who did it," Rawat said, when asked about Khan's reported comments.
'Don't think we've to get anymore statement from anybody'
The Army chief, however, noted that acceptance by Pakistan about the 26/11 terror attack was good. However, "I don't think we have to get anymore statement from anybody," Rawat remarked. Asked about comments by former Northern Army Commander Lt General (retd) D S Hooda that the hype around the 2016 surgical strikes was unwarranted, Gen Rawat said the remarks were an individual's opinion.
Not good when military operations get politicized: D S Hooda
At the same time, Rawat said that he respected Hooda's words. As Northern Army Commander, Hooda was involved in the planning and execution of the surgical strikes. Recently he said that it is not good when military operations get politicized, referring to the surgical strikes.
