GATE 2019 counselling begins: Here is how you can register
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras released the results of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2019) for all 24 papers on March 15. The counselling session for the same has now begun. All the candidates who have qualified GATE exam from 2017 to 2019 can now register for Centralized Counselling for MTech/MArch/MPlan (CCMT-2019) on the official website, ccmt.nic.in Here are the details.
Candidates need to fill single form for all participating institutes
As per the guidelines issued, "This centralized system provides a common and convenient platform for online counselling wherein the candidates can fill-in single online application form from their homes and apply to all programs in all the participating institutions to which they are eligible." Moreover, the students neither have to register for different participating institutes separately nor attend separate counselling.
Here is how you can register for GATE 2019 counselling
In order to register for the CCMT-2019, the candidates need to follow the steps below: 1- Go to the official website, ccmt.nic.in 2- Click on the tab 'CCMT 2019: Registration, Fee payment and Choice filling' available on the homepage 3- Login using your GATE Registration ID and password 4- Fill in your basic information 5- Choose required courses and institutes 6- Make payment.
Score cards available till May 31 on official website
The candidates who appeared in GATE 2019 can download their scorecards from the official website of GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS), appsgate.iitm.ac.in. The scorecards are available until May 31, 2019. For any other notices/updates regarding the same, candidates can visit gate.iitm.ac.in.
2017 GATE candidates will be given preference over 2018, 2019
Notably, the older scorecards will be given priority during the counseling, i.e. 2017 candidates will be given preference over 2018, and 2018 candidates will be given preference over 2019 candidates. In case two candidates have given the exam in the same year, they will be given preference according to their scores out of 100. This year, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, is organizing CCMT.

According to the official website, "Candidates can apply in all National Institute of Technologies (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, 8 IIITs, National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) Ranchi, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) Vijayawada, University of Hyderabad, Central University of Rajasthan, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) Longowal, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Chandigarh and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra."
What is GATE?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a compulsory exam for admissions in Masters and Doctoral courses in engineering, technology and architecture, and for government jobs. Many PSUs like, NTPC and ONGC, also ask for GATE score. GATE is jointly conducted by IISc and 7 IITs on behalf of National Co-ordination Board - GATE, MHRD. The score is valid for three years.
