UP: 13-year-old Bahraich boy injured in fresh wolf attack
A 13-year-old boy, Armaan Ali, was severely injured in a recent wolf attack in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Sunday night while Ali was sleeping on his home's terrace. Following the attack, he was immediately taken to a local health facility due to injuries on his neck and shoulders before being transferred to Bharaich Medical College for further treatment.
Government response to ongoing wolf attacks
This latest attack follows a series of similar incidents in Bahraich, with over 10 fatalities and more than 35 injuries reported so far. The first known attack occurred on July 17, when a one-year-old child was targeted. Since then, attacks have continued every four to five days. In response to this escalating situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey of the region and met with families affected by these attacks.
Government measures to combat wolf attacks
Adityanath has emphasized that public safety is the government's top priority and assured continued efforts by the forest department, district administration, and police until the threat is fully eliminated. He stated, "The government has classified human-wildlife conflict as a disaster. In the event of loss of life, an immediate compensation of ₹5 lakh is provided to the victim's family." Additionally, anti-rabies treatment has been made available for those injured in wild animal attacks.
Government deploys teams and drones for public safety
The CM announced the deployment of 25 teams—consisting of 165 forest department personnel, to ensure public safety. Four thermal drones have been deployed for monitoring. He explained that the area often experiences wild animal incidents during flood season—as animals move closer to human settlements in search of prey. Adityanath emphasized that rescuing the wolf is a priority, but if its violent behavior escalates or poses a threat to human life—orders to shoot it as a last resort have been issued.
Government's relief efforts amid flood situation
During his visit, Adityanath also reviewed the flood situation in Bahraich district and enquired about relief efforts. He interacted with children. The chief minister also directed that eligible individuals who have not yet received housing should be immediately provided homes under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.
