Four siblings from UP crack Civil Services Examination within 3yrs
Can you imagine the happiness your parents would experience if you clear the coveted UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE)? Now, multiply it by four. This is a reality for the Mishra family of Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh, where all the four siblings of the family not only cleared the UPSC CSE within three years but also went on to become IAS officers. Here's more.
They lived in a two-room house, excelled in academics
Anil Mishra, who worked as a bank manager in a regional rural bank, stayed with his wife Krishna Mishra and four children, Kshama, Yogesh, Lokesh, and Madhvi, in a two-room house. While growing up, the four siblings shared a normal relationship; they were all good in academics too. Later, the decision came together to join the prestigious Civil Services.
Yogesh's success worked as a catalyst for the other three
Out of the four siblings, it was Yogesh who became the first one to clear the Civil Services Examination in 2013. He got selected in the CSE 2013 in the reserve list. His success had worked as a catalyst for the remaining three siblings. All inspired by her brother's success and with his help, Madhvi next cleared the CSE 2014 with AIR 62.
Lokesh found place in reserve list, gave it another shot
Meanwhile, Lokesh had also found his name in the reserve list in CSE 2014. However, he was confident of himself and decided to give it another shot. Lokesh had earlier made his family proud by completing engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D). He believes his engineering background made clearing CSE-Prelims comparatively easier while systematic approach was his strategy for the CSE-Main examination.
Lokesh cracked the CSE 2015 with AIR 44
Lokesh had opted for Sociology as his Mains optional subject as he had his brother Yogesh on his side who had chosen the same optional. In 2015, he finally cracked the exam with AIR 44, marking the third consecutive year of Mishra siblings' success.
Kshama cleared the exam in 2015 too, thanks to husband
However, CSE-2015 was extra special for the siblings as the eldest of the four, Kshama, also cleared the exam with AIR 172 in her fourth attempt. After the results were out, Kshama had said, "I got married 8 years ago and once my husband came to know that I am interested in 'Civil Services', he gave me the opportunity to pursue Civil Services Examination."
Success is product of hard work and sacrifice, says Kshama
Kshama's husband, who is in Provincial Civil Service, inspired her to chase her dream and supported her along the way. She's a postgraduate in Hindi Literature and chose the same as her optional. Talking about the siblings' extraordinary success, Kshama said, "We all care and believe in each other; this success is a product of consistency, hard-work, and sacrifice; we have not inherited it."
