J&K: Four security forces personnel killed by terrorists in Kupwara
Four security forces personnel have been killed by terrorists in an encounter today in Jammu & Kashmir's Kupwara district. After receiving information regarding the presence of terrorists in Kupwara's Babagund, forces launched a cordon and search operation. However, during the search operation, terrorists opened fire at the forces. Officials said the exchange of fire was still underway when reports last came in.
Terrorist presumed dead opened fire at personnel
According to sources, a terrorist who was presumed dead took the security personnel by surprise when he emerged from a destroyed house and started firing at the forces, reported NDTV. A CRPF Inspector, a jawan, and two J&K Police personnel were killed in the encounter.
Two terrorists were killed in the gunfight
According to security forces, two terrorists were also killed in the encounter. Meanwhile, four civilians were also injured in clashes near the encounter site between the security personnel and a group of youngsters. The security forces received information about the presence of the terrorists late on Thursday after which the search operation was launched early in the morning.
