What's the story
A fire broke out in a "kalpvasi" tent at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday after a gas cylinder leaked.
The incident took place in Sector 19 of the event grounds. Firefighters managed to douse the blaze in 10 minutes, saving lives.
In spite of this, the tent was reduced to ashes.
Owner identification
Tent owner and setup details revealed
Chief Fire Officer (Kumbh) Pramod Sharma identified the owner of the gutted tent as Rajendra Jaiswal, a resident of Karma, Prayagraj.
The tent was put up by Om Prakash Pandey Seva Sansthan.
A "kalpvasi" tent houses devotees traditionally living near the sacred rivers for a month.
Despite the fact that firefighters reached the spot immediately, the tent was completely gutted in the blaze.
Safety issues
Series of fires raise safety concerns at Maha Kumbh
This incident is the latest in a series of fires at the ongoing Maha Kumbh, which started on January 13 and will continue until February 26.
On February 7, a fire broke out in the ISKCON camp in Sector 18, damaging around 20 tents but injuring no one.
Earlier, on January 19, a major fire broke out in Sector 19 due to a cylinder blast, destroying over a dozen camps without any casualties.
Additional fires
Vehicle fires add to string of incidents at Maha Kumbh
Additionally, on January 25, two cars caught fire in Sector 2 due to a short circuit in one vehicle that spread to another that was parked near it; no injuries were reported.
While these incidents have raised safety concerns at the event, efficient firefighting efforts have so far prevented any loss of life.
