Karol Bagh hotel fire: 17, including child, killed
A massive fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace, situated in Delhi'>New Delhi's Karol Bagh area, on Tuesday which killed seventeen people and left several injured. At least 25 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The deceased included a woman and a child. They reportedly died when they jumped out of a window to save themselves, claimed reports.
Family, who came to Delhi for function, booked the hotel
The three-storey hotel was booked by a family who came to Delhi to attend a function. The hotel had 35 rooms. According to reports, the fire broke out at 4:30 AM when most of the inmates were sleeping. The blaze spread panic among people and few jumped off the balcony. An amateur video showed a man dangling from the terrace, before jumping off.

Most deaths happened due to suffocation: Police
At least 35 people were rescued from the hotel. While 13 bodies were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, others were shifted to Lady Hardinge Medical College. Officials fear the toll could rise. Police said most people died due to suffocation
Last week, fire broke at ICU of Noida hospital
This incident comes days after a massive fire broke out in the ICU of Metro Hospital at Noida Sector 12. At the time of the accident on February 8, 66 patients were inside the hospital including 16 in the intense care unit (ICU). All the patients were evacuated and taken to another hospital. Reportedly, the hospital was running without a fire safety license.
