What's the story
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the grand spiritual congregation in Prayagraj, will come to an end on Wednesday with the last holy dip on Maha Shivratri.
The 45-day event, which started on January 13, saw over 64 crore pilgrims from across the globe. The festival had six auspicious bathing dates, including three "Amrit Snans."
On the final day, devotees from India and Nepal flocked to Triveni Sangam for a holy bath.

Security measures and farewell prayers mark Kumbh's conclusion
To maintain safety during the event, more than 37,000 police personnel and 14,000 home guards have been deployed. The area has also been declared a "no vehicle zone" to control large crowds.
DIG (Kumbh) Vaibhav Krishna said no VIP treatment would be given on the final day.
The Uttar Pradesh government issued advisories directing pilgrims to specific ghats for their dips.
Event aftermath
Farewell prayers and future preparations
The event's conclusion will be marked by a farewell at Varanasi's Kashi Vishwanath temple, where Naga sadhus will offer prayers.
Mahant Prem Giri of Juna Akhara said they would "bow before Kashi Vishwanath in all its splendor."
Some sadhus will stay in Varanasi for internal matters and the upcoming Akhara elections.
The next Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj will be in 2031, while preparations for Nasik Kumbh in 2027 are already underway.
