MP: Goon hijacks police car, abducts 'lover' dressed as cop
In a crime straight out of a Bollywood movie, a gang in MP's Panna district hijacked a police vehicle, stripped the cops and wore their uniforms, then 'kidnapped' a girl from her home. Cops believe the main accused is her lover, and seemingly wanted to get her out of her village as he himself had been banished from the region.
The broken love story that apparently triggered a 'crime'
The girl is believed to have had an affair with Devraj Singh, a resident of Hinauta. Singh was involved in many crimes. Her family had sent her to Sagar for studies, where apparently her uncle objected to her meeting Singh. She then accused her uncle of sexual harassment. Afterwards. her father made her drop out of college and took her home to Bamuraha village.
First, they called cops, stripped them and tied them up
Yesterday, someone called up police and complained a drunk man was creating nuisance near Bamuraha. When two cops reached the spot, they saw a man lying face down on the road. As they approached him, he pointed a gun at them. Next, him and four others stripped them, tied them up and put them in another car, then left with their vehicle.
They made sure to return the cops' uniforms and car
Dressed in the cops' uniforms, some of them reached the girl's place in Bamuraha. They made her, her father and brother go with them regarding the sexual harassment complaint she had filed, they said. After sometime, they made the father and the brother get down, went where the cops were held captive, returned their uniforms and the car, and fled with the girl.
Police on a hunt for the accused
Police say they suspect the girl had filed the FIR against her uncle for sexual harassment at Singh's behest. A manhunt is on for the accused, but no one has been nabbed yet.
