Odisha: 19-year-old woman Maoist carrying reward surrenders before police
A woman Maoist, who carried a reward of Rs. 1 lakh on her head, has surrendered before the police in Odisha's Malkangiri district. Nayana Khilo (19) of Sanyasiguda village surrendered before Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena and BSF DIG Virendra Singh last evening. Nayana had joined the outlawed CPI (Maoist) in 2016 and worked in Gumma area under Malkangiri division of the outfit, Meena said.
Nayana to be rehabilitated according to state govt's surrender policy
"Nayana was on the wanted list of police for her alleged involvement in at least four offensives," Meena said. He added that the woman decided to give up arms and return to the mainstream as she realized the futility of the violent approach of the Maoists. The woman would be rehabilitated according to the surrender policy of the state government.
Nayana will be given skill training, financial assistance
Nayana will also get financial assistance for building a house, studies, and training in a trade or vocation of her liking, Meena said.
