Blind father willing to sell kidney for son's education

The lengths to which parents go to fulfill the aspirations of their children is remarkable. They keep their worries at bay just to see their child smile. And Gujarat's Jayesh Patel is no different. Patel, who is visually-impaired, wants to fulfill his son's dream of becoming a doctor. As Patel has financial constraints, he wants to sell his kidney. Here's his story.
The family
Since 2009, Patel has been blind, his family faced difficulties
Patel is a resident of tribal area of Upsal village in Vansda taluka of Navsari district. In 2009, he lost his eyesight and his family went through hardships. Though his wife stepped up and became the sole breadwinner, the family struggled to meet ends. Despite the adversities, they didn't stop the education of their son Sahil and got him enrolled at a local school.

Reportedly, Sahil scored 90.59 percentile in 10th exams
Speaking to ANI, Patel said he always knew his son is a bright student. So, when Sahil scored 90.59 percentile in 10th board exams, Patel stood vindicated. With the help of teachers, Sahil completed his 10th standard and later took admission in another school in the Science stream. He wants to become a doctor and Patel intends to fulfill his dream.

As all doors are closed, Patel wants to sell kidney
Speaking about his plan of selling a kidney, Patel said this is the only way to assist Sahil financially. "I always knew my son is a bright child. Since I lost my eyes 10 years back, my wife has been taking care of the house. I have no other option now but to sell my kidney to see my son reaching heights," he said.

Meanwhile, Sahil doesn't approve of his father's plan. "I don't like that he talks about selling a kidney. I will do any other job but I don't want him to go through pain," he said.
