    What's the story

    The father of an 18-year-old woman who alleged rape by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar died Monday morning.

    The man was taken into police custody after his daughter, family members attempted self-immolation at Golf Club gate of CM Yogi Adityanath's residence in Lucknow.

    Doctors said police brought the man after he complained of abdominal pain and vomiting. The relatives allege the man was murdered.

    Pushpanjali Devi, SP, Unnao said two police officers & four constables were suspended for beating the rape victim's father. Four others were also arrested for beating him. DIG Law and Order said a magisterial inquiry will be conducted and lapses won't be tolerated.

    A history of police atrocities: The family's tale

    Alleging police inaction, the family revealed the father was thrashed by the BJP MLA's brother for refusing to cancel the FIR.

    Instead of taking action against the goon, the police filed an FIR against the father and locked him up for days, the family alleged.

    The woman had told media that police failed to act on her complaints for one year.

    On the other hand, Kuldeep Singh has called the victim and family's bid to commit suicide a pre-planned conspiracy. He said they were trying to demean him with their actions.

    Rajiv Krishan, ADG Lucknow zone said the case was transferred to Lucknow and probe suggested both parties were disputing for years.

    The woman threatened to kill herself if justice was not served to her.
