TN: Family of 5 found dead in car, suicide suspected
A family of five was found dead inside an abandoned car on the Trichy-Karaikudi National Highway in Pudukkottai district, Tamil Nadu. The victims have been identified as Manikandan, a 50-year-old businessman from Salem district; his wife Nithya; their two children, Niharika (22) and Dheeran (20); and Manikandan's mother Saroja. Preliminary investigations suggest that they may have consumed poison.
Suicide note found
The police have recovered a suicide note from the car but are still investigating what could have led to this tragic incident. Reports suggest that Manikandan was involved in the metal trade and had recently accumulated debt due to his business ventures. The authorities are also probing whether he faced pressure from money lenders or business partners.
Bodies sent for post-mortem
The bodies were discovered by locals in front of a mutt at Ilankudipatti around 9:00am on Wednesday. They alerted the police after noticing the car had been parked at the same spot since Tuesday evening.
