India, you can now look for jobs on Facebook
Facebook has brought its jobs feature to India and around 40 other countries. Unlike LinkedIn and Glassdoor, the focus will be on small and medium-sized enterprises. With this, you will be able to find jobs around you and apply to them directly. Posts will be available on multiple places, including the business' page and Marketplace. Here's how you can use the new free feature.
Facebook jobs has helped 25% of US users: Report
Facebook's jobs feature was first launched in the US and Canada in February'17. In October, it started letting people create résumés on the platform. According to Morning Consult, one in four Americans had searched for or found a job using Facebook. The focus was on local companies as they "strengthen our communities and create more than 60% of new jobs," said Alex Himel, Local VP at Facebook.
Here's how recruiters can use the new feature
With this, recruiters will now be able to post vacancies on their official page. They can give out details like job title, type (full/part-time), location and salary. Like sponsored posts, they can also make paid advertisements to reach a wider group of job seekers. If they like a candidate, the hiring manager can have a direct conversation with them through Messenger.
And here's how you can find jobs on Facebook
Visit the Jobs Dashboard on the left panel on the home page. It will show vacancies in and around your location. You can search by category, location or title. The application will automatically retrieve necessary details from your profile. You can also set up customized alerts. Recruiters will be able to see only the information you provide and which is publicly visible.
'Vacancies to appear in multiple places'
Announcing the feature, the company said: "Job posts will appear in multiple places on Facebook, including on a business' Page, in the Jobs dashboard, in Marketplace, and in News Feed." Since 2011, Facebook has invested over $1bn to help local businesses grow.
Facebook turning its focus on one of its biggest markets
According to available data, 250mn Indians are on Facebook, and the company is working hard to attract more. Last July, it launched the Messenger Lite app for slow connections and basic smartphone models. In November, it launched Marketplace, allowing local vendors to sell their products on the platform. Apart from India, Spain, France, Germany and the UK are also getting the jobs feature.
