Exit polls predict AAP in Punjab, BJP in UP, Uttarakhand
The Assembly elections in five states—Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur—concluded on Monday and the results will be declared on March 10. The exit poll estimates are now out and hint at what to expect from the election results. Notably, the exit polls don't exactly tell the results but estimate which party is likely to come to power.
Yogi to retain power in Uttar Pradesh?
In Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led NDA government is expected to get 211-225 out of 403 seats, according to Polstrat. Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party and its allies are predicted to win 146-160 seats. Mayawati's BSP is likely to get 14-24 seats while Congress may get 4-6 seats. Elections in the state were held in seven phases in Uttar Pradesh and were concluded on Monday.
Who is winning in Punjab?
As per the India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to score a landslide victory in Punjab with 76-90 seats. Congress is expected to win 19 to 31 seats, while Akali Dal is likely to be reduced to seven to 11 seats. On the other hand, BJP and its allies are predicted to get one to four seats.
Tough fight between BJP and Congress in Goa
In the 40-seat Goa Assembly, Times Now-Veto's projection has shown a tough fight between Congress and BJP. Congress is predicted to win 16 seats, while BJP is likely to give a tough competition with 14 seats. AAP is likely to get four seats, while six seats are likely to go to other parties in the fray, such as TMC, NCP, and Shiv Sena.
Who will win in Uttarakhand?
BJP is predicted to win 36-46 seats in Uttarakhand, according to the India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll. Congress may bag 20-30 seats, followed by the BSP with 2-4 seats. On the other hand, the Zee News exit poll predicts 39 seats for Congress and 35 for BJP. AAP could score nine seats, BSP eight, and nine seats could go to other parties.
BJP has an edge in Manipur
The exit polls by Zee News-DESIGNBOXED have predicted 32-38 seats for the BJP in Manipur, while Congress and its allies should get 12-17 seats. On the other hand, News18 Punjab-P-MARQ exit polls show 27-31 seats for BJP and 11-17 seats for Congress and its allies. India News has predicted 23-28 seats for BJP and 10-14 seats for Congress and its allies.
