'Era of uninterrupted dialogue over...': Jaishankar's message to Pakistan
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday issued a strong message to Pakistan, saying that "actions have consequences" and declaring the end of the "era of uninterrupted dialogue" with the neighboring country. At a book launch event in the national capital, Jaishankar said the future of India-Pakistan relations will depend on how events develop, notably referring to issues like cross-border terrorism.
Jaishankar references Article 370, India's stance on terrorism
Jaishankar also referenced the abrogation of Article 370, which previously granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. "So far as J&K is concerned, Article 370 is done," he said. When asked about India's satisfaction with its current ties with Pakistan, he said, "Maybe yes or maybe no...we are not passive. Whether events take a positive or negative turn, either way, we will react."

Jaishankar reiterates India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism
Jaishankar's remarks on India-Pakistan relations are a reiteration of India's zero-tolerance policy against cross-border terrorism. He had previously stated at the annual general meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in Delhi that "If they wind down this industry they have created, then people will treat them as normal neighbors." This statement was made in response to criticisms about India's regional influence and perceived passivity toward neighboring countries' political needs.
'They're intent on increasing terrorism...': Union Minister
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy responded to calls from the National Conference and Congress for dialogue with Pakistan, noting that India had previously pursued talks under leaders like former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and current PM Modi. Reddy added, "How can we speak to them when they are intent on increasing terrorism and destroying India?" He said Pakistan has not shown genuine interest in fostering friendship and continues to perpetuate terrorism and target Indian soldiers.
