Dwarka Expressway entry from Daulatabad Chowk closed for 44 days
What's the story
The National Highways Authority of India(NHAI) has announced a temporary closure of the Dwarka Expressway's entry point from Daulatabad Chowk for 44 days. The closure is necessary for expansion joint replacement work.
The project is expected to affect commuters traveling from Sector 99 to 106 in Gurugram, as well as residents of nearby areas like Dhankot, Basai, and Kherki Majra.
Detour
Commuters advised to take alternate route
Commuters have been asked to use surface roads and merge onto the expressway after the Bijwasan toll plaza. However, this will be a detour as work at Daulatabad Chowk is underway.
The NHAI has also put up barriers at the entry point of this connecting flyover, which will be closed till April 30.
An NHAI official confirmed the closure, saying, "All other traffic movements will remain unaffected" on the expressway.
Commuter feedback
Residents express concerns over detour
Basai and Dhankot residents, who use this route to Delhi airport, Dwarka, and other parts of Delhi, have raised concerns.
They say this road was constructed to reduce congestion on NH-48. "This road was constructed to reduce congestion on NH-48 but now commuters will have to take the same overcrowded route again," said one commuter.
Another office-goer said they would spend two extra hours traveling daily.
Request
NHAI urged to improve traffic management
Commuters have asked the NHAI to establish better traffic management solutions during this closure. They say it will help minimize inconvenience during this time.
The ₹9,000-crore expressway has seen several maintenance issues since its inauguration last year.
In fact, just four months after it opened in July 2024, a 70-meter stretch near Sector 102 had developed cracks, raising further questions on the quality of construction on this route.
