Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces neutralize terrorist in Pulwama
A terrorist has been killed in an encounter with security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Thursday when security personnel initiated a cordon and search operation at Fressipora village in the Rajpora area of south Kashmir. This action was based on intelligence reports indicating potential terrorist activity within the village. The situation escalated when suspected terrorists fired upon the forces, leading to retaliation and the subsequent death of the terrorist.
Investigation underway to identify deceased terrorist
The police are currently working to confirm the identity and group affiliation of the deceased terrorist. In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police wrote, "Body of one #terrorist retrieved. Identification being ascertained. Search going on. Further details awaited." The encounter site, located two kilometers from Pulwama town, yielded arms, ammunition, and incriminating evidence.
Security heightened, search operations continue in Pulwama
Security remains heightened in the area as search operations continue to ensure no threats remain. Key strategic locations, including entry and exit points, are under strict surveillance to prevent any potential escape attempts by terrorists. This incident follows closely on the heels of another event last week where a terrorist was neutralized during an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.
