Bomb threat on AI flight: Emergency declared at Thiruvananthapuram airport
A state of full emergency was declared at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Thursday, after a bomb threat on an Air India flight from Mumbai. The aircraft, carrying 135 passengers, landed safely at the airport around 8:00am and was swiftly moved to an isolation bay for further investigation. The pilot communicated the bomb threat as the plane neared its destination.
Passengers evacuated, flight details revealed
After landing, all passengers were evacuated from the flight according to the protocol. The flight which received the bomb threat was identified as Air India Express flight IX 385. As of now, further information regarding the origin of the threat and other related details are still pending. The airport authorities are working closely with security agencies to ensure passenger safety and investigate the matter thoroughly.
Uptick in bomb scares
This comes amid a recent uptick in bomb scares on planes, hospitals, schools and malls across the country. On Monday, three malls and a hospital in South Delhi received a bomb threat via email, prompting authorities to evacuate people and search the buildings. The threat claimed that an explosive would go off in a few hours. However, it turned out to be a hoax.
