Six-year-old undergoes surgery after brutal rape in Dwarka; accused arrested
A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in Dwarka Sector 23, Delhi, the police said on Friday. According to reports, the man, who hails from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, allegedly lured the girl with a mango juice packet and raped her in the bushes adjacent to a road. The minor needed surgery as a result of the sexual assault.
Girl was found bleeding on roadside by passer-by
On Tuesday afternoon, the man, identified as Nanhey, lured the girl with a Frooti packet to a deserted bushy area in Sector 23 of Dwarka, Daily Pioneer reported. The police said that after the sexual assault, the girl lost consciousness. Upon regaining consciousness, she walked to the nearby road where a passer-by saw her bleeding and alerted the police.
Minor 'severely injured' and had bite marks; required surgery
Reportedly, the police took the girl to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors confirmed rape. She was later shifted to the Safdarjung Hospital. Dr. Sunil Gupta, medical superintendent, Safdarjung Hospital, told HT the girl's genitals were "severely injured" and required surgery. According to India Today, veins in her privates had burst and she also had bite marks on her stomach.

Dr. Gupta told HT that the girl is now stable and out of danger, but she will be monitored for about a week to 10 days. He added that a Delhi Commission for Women counselor will stay by the victim 24x7.

"When our team took her to the hospital she was in a state of shock. She couldn't tell her address or her parents' name," said a senior officer. When the cops conducted a search of the scene of the crime, they discovered the girl lived in a nearby locality and found her parents, who said their daughter was missing.
CCTV footage led police to culprit, who confessed
The police also found CCTV footage where the culprit was seen holding the girl's hand and taking her to the bushes. Nanhey, an unemployed alcoholic who lived in the same locality, was nabbed as he had similar built and was wearing the same clothes as the man in the CCTV footage. He later confessed to the crime, News18 reported.
Case registered under relevant sections of IPC, POCSO
Nanhey was charged under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act. Separately, the police is currently investigating the case and looking at past records of the accused to see if he has a history of committing similar crimes.
