Application for various courses in DU to start next week
The Delhi University (DU) is starting its admission process for various courses next week. While registration for undergraduate courses will open on May 15, those for postgraduate programs will start on May 18, and for M.Phil/Ph.D on May 20. Registration has to be done online. Open days will be held at the Conference Center near Gate No. 4, North Campus during May 21-29.
For these courses, candidates need to appear entrance exams
Students need to appear entrance exams for admission into these undergraduate courses: BA (Business Economics/Humanities and Social Sciences/Mass Communication/Hindustani Music-Vocal and Instrumental/Karnatak Music-Vocal and Instrumental/Percussion Music); BSc (Physical Education/Health Education/Sports); BBA (Financial Investment Analysis); B.Tech (IT and Mathematical Innovations); BMS; and Bachelors of Elementary Education. Students also need to clear an exam for the Five-Year Integrated Program in Journalism in Delhi School of Journalism.
Cutoffs likely to be lower as Boards shelve moderation
The high cutoffs DU is known for, sometimes touching 100%, is likely to see a dip this time. The CBSE and 23 other Boards have decided to do away with moderation in Class 12 exams, a practice by which students' marks were escalated and which pushed cutoffs higher. Interestingly, in 2016, 129 of 188 students admitted into B.Com (Honors) at SRCC were from TN.
No need to pay till all issues resolved
This time, the university is taking care to ensure the portal runs properly; last year, it was marred by different types of glitches: important information was missing and many sections were inaccessible. "After last year's experience, we're ensuring the portal is more student-friendly," an official said. "Since the registration-period is pretty long, the aspirant can wait till the issue is resolved before making payment."
