Delhi University admissions may begin by May 27. Here's more
As per reports, the Delhi University is likely to open registrations for the undergraduate courses latest by May 27. The application forms will allow students to seek a seat in any of the colleges affiliated to the University. Notably, only St. Stephen's College, which doesn't follow the University's centralized admission process, has begun its admission procedure from May 22. Here are the details.
Admissions can begin from May 24, 25 or 27: Gupta
Talking to The Indian Express, Rajeev Gupta, DU's admission coordinator, said, "We are deciding the date of release of the application form. It can be on May 24, 25 or 27 (Friday, Saturday or Sunday)." Meanwhile, this year the admission process was constantly delayed in order to sync it with the class XII results. So, this announcement will surely bring relief to aspirants.
Students will have to opt for courses, colleges after registration
Last year, an open day was conducted by DU to give out all admission process details to students, which is expected to happen this year too. The students are suggested to keep a close check on DU's official website for any updates, as no application will be accepted after deadline. Also, after one registers, he/she will have to choose their preferred college and course.
Here is the list of documents needed for DU admissions
In the meantime, keep these documents that are given below ready for registration: 1- A passport size photograph (2-inch x 2-inch) 2- Scanned signature 3- Self-attested copies of Class X certificate and Class XII marksheet 4- Other certificates (if applicable) including SC/ST/OBC/PwD/KM/CW valid certificate, Sports/ECA certificates, income certificate (for OBC non-creamy layer) and Extra Curricular Activities Certificate(s) should also be self-attested.
Selected students will be called for document verification, fee payment
After assessing the applications, students will be selected and list for cut-offs will be released, which will be calculated based on 'best of four' formula. Those who would meet the cut-off will then be called for document verification and fee payment into their respective colleges.
DU is planning to involve NTA for entrance examination
While most of the courses' admissions in the University are subjected to cut-off lists, there are a few which need students to appear for an entrance examination. Reportedly, DU is planning to involve the National Testing Agency (NTA), which also conducted the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test UG 2019 [NEET (UG)] this year, for the same.
'Exam only for those courses for which entrance is compulsory'
Gupta confirmed the development, saying, "There is a proposal to ask NTA to conduct the DU entrance exams. The exam will only be for the courses for which entrance is already a mandate and no new courses are being brought under the ambit."
