Students, brace yourselves, for higher DU cut-offs after phenomenal results
In Class 12 results announced by Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE), 12,737 students scored above 95%, which is equally celebratory and concerning. The remarkable performance of students means cut-off for Delhi University, which will be announced in June, will go higher than expected. In the past, the unrealistic cut-off to get admitted to DU, troubled students. Last year, it went as high as 99.66%.
Better marks in CBSE mean steeper DU cut-offs
The cut-offs for Delhi University is directly proportional to CBSE results since the board is the source of the maximum number of applicants. "Of course cut-offs will increase. But by how much we can only tell after all the applications are received," a DU official said. The pass percentage of Delhi has also improved. 89% students passed this year as compared to 88.37% in 2017.
Getting admitted to DU wasn't easy last year, too
Last year, the Science subject which attracted a lot of students was BSc (Honors) Computer Science. For this, the cut-off at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College (STGB) was 98%. B.Com(H), one of the most popular courses of DU, saw a cut-off of 98.25% for the same college. For BA(H) English, the cut-off was set at 97.5% for Hindu college.
Even, national topper Meghna Srivastava wants to get into DU
Meghna Srivastava, who scored 499 out of 500 in the results, is also eyeing a DU seat, reports said. "I never expected I will score the highest marks in the country," she said. Getting into the prestigious university would be a cake-walk for her now.
