    What's the story

Delhi University (DU) commenced its registration process for undergraduate courses for the batch of 2019-20 on 30 May.

In order to clear doubts related to the registration process, DU is conducting Open Day sessions for students and their parents.

However, for the first time, the university has decided to hold a separate Open Day session only for female students on 8 June.

    Here's more.

    Details

Dean of Students' Welfare confirms news, separate timing allotted

As per reports, the university's Dean of Students' Welfare, Rajeev Gupta, confirmed the news. The session will be held for the female students at an allotted time.

Moreover, the officials informed that Payal Mago, principal of Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, a representative of Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB), and Pratyush Vatsala, principal of Lakshmibai College, will be the panelists.

    NCWEB

NCWEB enables women complete their degrees on weekends and breaks

Subsequently, the designated panel will be discussing the options available for the female students, including the NCWEB.

NCWEB allows women to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the university on weekends and during academic breaks.

It helps women who cannot attend regular classes due to several reasons to study.

Reportedly, around 32,000 women students are a part of the NCWEB.

    Information

Open Day session venue: Conference Center of the North Campus

There are several women colleges under the university which led to the decision of holding a separate Open Day session. It will be held at the Conference Center, North Campus. As of now, DU has held five Open Days.

    Issues

Students complained of technical glitches in previous sessions

In the previous sessions, many students complained about the "edit" option in the application form introduced this year was not functioning.

One of the students told the New Indian Express, "I was unable to make changes in the form, so I registered twice."

Interestingly, DU delayed the admission process this year and one of the major reasons was designing a "user-friendly and hassle-free" portal.
