Hyderabad: Drunk engineer causes 6 accidents in 6 minutes
One person died and at least 10 others were injured after a Hyderabad man caused several accidents under the influence of alcohol. Patarla Kranti Kumar, a 30-year-old software engineer, caused six accidents in a span of six minutes in Hyderabad's IT corridor on Sunday night, The Hindu reported. The accidents occurred in the city's IT corridor with Kumar, driving his Volkswagen Polo.
Detailed account of the accidents provided by police
Inspector Ch Venkanna from Raidurgam Police shared a detailed account of the incidents. "The first accident occurred at 12:45am near Mindspace and the last one occurred at 12:51am," he stated. The intoxicated software engineer was traveling from Jubilee Hills to Nizampet via Madhapur when he collided with three bikes, a car, an auto, and a pedestrian during his journey from Mindspace to Mehdipatnam road in his Volkswagen Polo.
Engineer ignored advice to take a cab
According to The Times of India, Kumar had been drinking for four hours at a local bar before deciding to drive. Despite the bar staff's advice to take a cab due to his evident intoxication, Kumar assured them he was capable of driving and managed to leave unnoticed. He was later apprehended by police. He is now facing charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code for his reckless actions while under the influence of alcohol.
