Three men out of five, accused of raping a 20-year-old girl for the second time in Rohtak, have been arrested by the Haryana Police. Teen abducted, raped by five men in Haryana
In Oct'13, a teenage girl was gang-raped by five men in Bhiwani, Haryana. The victim was allegedly raped twice over a span of four days; she was kidnapped and then taken to Chandigarh. However, the accused men denied allegations and said they didn't know each other. The incident came to light only ten months after the fatal 2012 Delhi bus gang rape incident.
Victim and her family fled Bhiwani
The victim's family had been put under pressure by the five accused to withdraw the case against them. The victim's family was offered Rs.50 lakh for an out of court settlement. However, the family refused the offer and fled to Rohtak from Bhiwani to save themselves from the accused. Three of the accused were arrested in Nov'13; they were released on bail in Jun'16.
20-year-old raped, dumped in bushes
A 20-year-old student was allegedly raped by five men, who later dumped her in bushes to kill her in Rohtak. She was injured and in an inebriated state when the police found her. The victim was drugged and gang-raped by five men named in the FIR she filed. Sources suspect it was the same victim who fell prey to the accused in 2013.
Case registered at a women's police station
A case was registered on 14 July 2016 under several IPC sections and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Amit, Jagmohan, Sandeep, Mausam and Akash for abduction and gang rape at a women's police station based on the victim's statement.
Raped second time by the same men
Several media reports revealed that the 20-year-old Rohtak gang rape victim might have been raped by the same men who raped her in Bhiwani in 2013. The shocking news came to light four days after the girl was raped for the second time. The accused men, who were on bail, allegedly assaulted her as she had not withdrawn her three-year-old case against them.
Fourth accused to be arrested soon
Haryana DGP KP Singh said: "We have arrested three persons. One more who has been named will be arrested soon. As for the fifth accused, his address is not complete. As soon as we ascertain the address, we will apprehend him."
The accused were framed, claim families
The families of the accused, who were granted bail in Jun'16 in the 2013 rape case, claimed that they are being framed. CCTV footage was submitted by them to prove that the accused were not present in Rohtak at the time of the crime. DSP Pushpa Khatri said the footage and other proof presented would be examined and assured a fast track investigation.
Pressurized to withdraw case
The victim's brother said: "All we want is justice for my sister. The accused have been planning to take revenge since 2013. They had pressurized us to withdraw the case three years ago. They should get nothing less than the death penalty."
