Centre to double shelter duration stay for domestic survivors soon
What's the story
The central government is considering increasing the temporary shelter period for domestic violence survivors at One-Stop Centres (OSC) from five to 10 days.
Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi announced the possible change on Wednesday night.
Under special circumstances, survivors may be permitted to stay for up to 15 days.

Who can avail the facilities at OSCs
Presently, women victims of violence, along with their children (girls of all ages and boys up to eight years), can reside at OSCs for a maximum of five days.
The Ministry is finalizing plans to implement this extension.
For those requiring long-term shelter, OSCs coordinate with Swadhar Greh, which are run by the government or NGOs.;

Devi shared these updates while hosting a dinner for women panchayat leaders and sarpanch from Jharkhand.
