Stray dogs eat dead newborn's head in UP hospital
What's the story
In a shocking incident, dogs were seen eating the head of a dead newborn in a video now gone viral, at the Lalitpur Medical College in Uttar Pradesh.
The infant was born on February 9 at the District Women's Hospital and was immediately admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) for being underweight and having congenital defects.
Despite medical intervention, the child died on the same day.
Accusation details
Hospital alleges family's negligence in newborn's case
The hospital administration gave the infant's body to the family, with the child's aunt allegedly taking it.
"We have the receiving with a thumb impression of the aunt," confirmed Dr. Meenakshi Singh, Chief Medical Officer.
The next day, hospital staff were alerted to a dog attack on their premises and found a headless child's body on the ground.

Investigation launched into tragic incident at Lalitpur Medical
The hospital has since accused the family of negligence, alleging they abandoned the body in a plastic bag.
After the gruesome discovery, Lalitpur Medical College Principal D Nath has constituted a committee of four doctors to probe the matter.
The team has been directed to submit their findings within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the family of the child has blamed the hospital administration for negligence.
