DM confined family, even water not served: Unnao rape victim
An 18-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped by UP BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, has claimed her family is being held in confinement by the administration and DM. "They aren't even serving me water. I want the culprit to be punished," she said. They have been staying in an Unnao hotel since her father died, allegedly after being thrashed by the accused MLA's brother.
The MLA and his aides allegedly raped her last year
The woman had alleged that Sengar and his aides had raped her last year, but despite complaints, no action had been taken against him. The police didn't name Sengar in the record of her complaint either, she said. After going from pillar to post seeking justice, she and her family tried to kill themselves outside UP CM Yogi Adityanath's house on Sunday.
A day later, the woman's father died in judicial custody
Ironically, an FIR was filed against the family for attempting suicide, and her father was arrested. Shockingly, he died the next day. Doctors attributed it to shock and septicaemia from physical assault. Police later suspended two officers and four constables. Others were also arrested for beating him, including Sengar's brother. However, the MLA has dismissed the charges as a conspiracy by a "low class."
Police assure full security to victim, dismiss reports of pressure
"I appeal to CM Yogi Adityanath to provide me justice," the alleged victim has now said. ADGP (Lucknow zone) Rajeev Krishna has dismissed reports of pressure on the SIT investigating the matter. "The family will be provided full security. They have a relative in Delhi, now it is their decision if they want to live here in Unnao or in Delhi," he added.
