Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh today asked the Rajasthan Government to discontinue the protocol of according guard of honor to him upon his arrival and departure from the Raj Bhavan and during district tours. A letter expressing Singh's wish, that the tradition of according the guard of honor to him be stopped, has been sent to the state government today, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
Singh had earlier sought Home Department's opinion
Earlier in January, Singh had sought the Rajasthan home department's opinion on whether or not this protocol could be discontinued. The home department, in its June 11 letter, stated that the guard of honor could be discontinued. Following this, Singh, a former UP Chief Minister, wrote to the state government asking for its discontinuation. Going forward, no such arrangements will be made for Kalyan.
