Hisar: Four-month-old fetus found in hospital toilet
A four-month-old fetus was discovered at a hospital in Hisar, Haryana, on Monday. Reportedly, the fetus was discarded in the ladies toilet of a government hospital by an unknown woman. This is the third such incident in the last seven months from the region. The police are currently investigating the matter. Read on to find out more details about the incident.
The fetus was discovered by a hospital employee
According to a report in The Times of India, the fetus was discovered by an employee of the hospital, Preeti Devi, when she entered the ladies toilet and found it lying there. She alerted the hospital administration and police rushed to the spot to record Devi's statement. The post-mortem of the fetus was done at Agroha Medical College, the report added.
A case has been registered under IPC Section 318
The police have registered a case under Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body) of the Indian Penal Code against an unknown woman, a Hisar police spokesperson told The Times of India. The complaint was registered by Devi.
The police have narrowed down on a suspect
The police have interrogated a woman in connection with the incident on the basis of suspicion. Reportedly, the woman was four months pregnant. However, she told the police that she visited the hospital after experiencing stomach pains. She said, since the OPD queue was long, she went into a toilet, where the abortion took place. Legal action will be taken after a proper investigation.
Third case in past seven months in Hisar
Last month, a newborn was found in a dustbin in the emergency ward of a hospital in Hisar. Another incident was reported about seven months ago when a newborn was found abandoned inside the toilet of a government hospital. It was later revealed, during an investigation, that the mother was a student, who had filed a case of rape against a youth from Jhajjar.
