Dhanbad has highest 4G availability, beats Delhi and Bengaluru
4G is the daily driver for millions, but when it comes to availability, you may notice occasional drops and lags while moving from one place to another. Now, giving some more insight into this, analytics firm Opensignal has reported that Dhanbad, India's coal capital, tops the chart in terms of 4G availability. It has beaten all metros, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Here's more.
Dhanbad, Ranchi topping 4G availability charts
Opensignal collected 4G connectivity data for 50 Indian cities between November and January and found that Dhanbad has a whopping 95.3% 4G availability from all operators combined. The city was closely followed by its neighbor and Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, which had a 4G availability score of 95%. Apart from these two, no other Indian city managed the 95% mark.
Other cities, however, stayed above 87%
All other cities assessed in the study, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, scored over 87% - a fact that shows India's 4G strength. Interestingly, smaller cities were the winners; Lucknow scored 93.1% while Srinagar and Patna scored 94.9% and 94.5%. On the contrary, Delhi and Mumbai had a score shy of 90% while Bengaluru and Hyderabad sat at 92.3% and 90.5%, respectively.
Last year, Patna was the winner
To recall, last year's Opensignal analysis had revealed Patna as the city with the highest 4G availability. It had scored 92.6% and has grown by nearly 2% since then.
4G availability: A more accurate metric for connectivity
Having said that, it is important to note that 4G availability doesn't indicate the network strength in a particular city or state. The scores reflect the proportion of time users in a city were able to successfully connect with their 4G network, whichever it may be. So, simply put, it is an indicator of when users have a 4G connection instead of where.
