Cure diabetes, prevent malaria, chikungunya: VP Naidu to IIIM scientists
Applauding the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) in Jammu for supporting the drug regulatory system of India, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today asked IIIM scientists to develop drugs to cure diabetes and prevent diseases like malaria, chikungunya, and dengue. Naidu said he was glad to know that IIIM has started a Technology Business Incubator to provide jobs for the youngsters of J&K.
Institute has healthy drug pipeline for Alzheimer's, oncology, tuberculosis
"I am happy to note that a number of start-ups within the IIIM campus are currently incubating under this initiative, which is being supported by the department of science & technology," Naidu said. He said it was great to know that institute has a very robust drug pipeline in the areas of oncology, arthritis, tuberculosis, Alzheimer's, and peptic ulcer.
Science has played a vital role in India's growth: VP
Naidu said science has played a major role in India's growth and the achievements in the areas of medicine, food security, atomic energy are a testimony to this fact. "It is pertinent to mention here that the founder of this institute, Sir Ram Nath Chopra, played a major role in the formulation of Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules of Independent India," he added.
