Depressed with IndiGo, employee makes hoax bomb call; gets arrested
The Delhi police recently arrested an IndiGo employee for making a hoax bomb call regarding a Mumbai-bound flight at Indira Gandhi International airport, earlier this month. 23-year-old Kartik Madhav was arrested from Pune. On interrogation, Madhav revealed he made the call as he was 'depressed' and 'frustrated' with IndiGo. IndiGo, in a statement, said that they suspended Madhav after the initial investigation.
After threat, Mumbai bound flights were checked for hours
Madhav made the call on May 2 at the IndiGo Airlines office in Delhi. "A meeting of Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened and Mumbai-bound flights were physically checked for over two hours," said Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport). When the team did not find anything, the call was declared hoax. An FIR was registered and police launched an investigation.
Madhav's poor performance got him a verbal notice
After finishing 12th, Madhav completed a diploma course in Hospitality and Aviation in 2013, from a private institute. Owing to poor performance in IndiGo, Madhav was issued a verbal notice to either improve himself or face departmental consequences. "The notice left him depressed and he decided to teach the airlines a lesson by making the false call," said Bhatia.
