Strong winds expected in Delhi as temperatures keep soaring
What's the story
After the national capital recorded the hottest day of this summer season on Monday with the temperature touching 44.3 degrees Celsius, Delhi is set to experience another hot day today.
Temperatures are expected to soar to 43 degrees Celsius, and strong surface winds of 20-25kmph are expected to sweep the capital.
Wednesday is expected to see partly cloudy skies with the possibility of thunderstorms.
The hottest day
Temperatures are expected to keep on soaring
On Monday, the Palam observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius - four notches above normal, thus making it this season's hottest day.
However, the Safdarjung observatory, whose readings are considered official for Delhi, recorded a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Regardless, temperatures are expected to soar now that the effect of the dust storm has petered out.

No drop in temperature over the next two days
"While the [earlier] dust storm had reduced the maximum temperature by a few degrees, it has once again risen and was recorded at 44°C at Palam...The maximum temperature for the next two days will hover around 43 degrees," said an India Meteorological Department official.
Dust storm effect
Delhi had enjoyed a few relatively cool days last week
On the afternoon of 13th May, a massive dust storm hit the national capital and its adjoining areas.
The storm disrupted electricity and metro services, and flights at the Delhi airport were grounded for its duration.
Coupled with thunderstorms and pre-monsoon activities in the region, Delhi had enjoyed a few relatively cool days.
However, it seems like those days are over for now.
